Cambodian Prime Minister Embarks on Official Visit to Laos

Phnom Penh, March 25, 2024 – Prime Minister Hun Manet is leading a high-level Cambodian delegation to the Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) for a two-day official visit, following an invitation from Lao Prime Minister Dr. Sonexay Siphandone.

The delegation received a ceremonial send-off at Phnom Penh International Airport, attended by deputy prime ministers, senior ministers, other high-ranking government officials, and representatives from the Embassy of Lao PDR in Cambodia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has outlined the visit's agenda, which includes a courtesy call on Thongloun SISOULITH, President of the Lao PDR, and extensive bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone. These talks aim to enhance cooperation in various sectors and address regional and international issues of mutual interest. The visit is also expected to culminate in the signing of several important agreements.

Additionally, Hun Manet is scheduled to engage with Khambai Damlat, President of the Lao-Cambodian Friendship Association, and will meet with members of the Cambodian Business Club as well as Cambodian students living in Laos.

The ministry's press release highlighted the visit's significance in reinforcing the longstanding and multifaceted partnership between Cambodia and Laos. "The visit will further deepen bilateral cooperation, guided by a spirit of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and a comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership. It aims to lay a stronger foundation for mutual growth and prosperity," the press release stated.
